Funerals

Although there is sadness when someone dies, a funeral service brings a message of hope in life after death. A funeral is a good place to give thanks for all that was special about the person you knew and loved.

A funeral marks the end of a person’s life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God’s keeping. This can be in church, in a local crematorium or cemetery, or in a green burial ground. It can be a small quiet occasion or a time for 100+ people to come together.

You don’t have to have been a church member to have a Church of England funeral and you don’t have to hold the funeral in church. Everyone is entitled to have a funeral service taken by a minister from their local parish church, regardless of whether they attended church or not.

Arrangements for a Church funeral or Memorial Service at St Ambrose with St Leonard should be made through the Priest in Charge, Rev. Nicola Coleman on 07985 659667 or revncoleman@gmail.com. Alternatively please contact your funeral directors who will make the necessary arrangements with us.
